Are you beginning a new unit about insects? Use the bug buddies template to have students gather information about insects from their classmates.
Steps to Bug Buddies Introductory Activity
Step One: Bug Buddies Template
Give each student a bug buddies template. Choose the colour or black and white version by clicking on the images below.
Step Two: Find Partners
Students go around the classroom and find a different partner for each square. Throughout the insects unit, ask students to gather with their bee buddies or their grasshopper buddies. At other times, they can meet with all their partners … like in the following activity.
Step Three: Use For Introductory Activity
Give students a set of four sticky notes. Students meet with each of their four bug buddies and talk about insects. They decide on one fact and write it on a sticky note. Students need to come up with a different insect fact with each bug buddy. After students have met with all their bug buddies, gather together as a group and join all the sticky notes that contain similar facts.
